A musical and cultural evening was held in Lahore, Pakistan, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR).
After the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Pakistan, H.E. Ali Alizada, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan welcomed the guests of the event and gave information about the honorary history of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, also highlighted that by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan, 100th anniversary of ADR is widely celebrated across the country and abroad this year. Ambassador said that it is a significant event that for the first time the anniversary of ADR is celebrated in Lahore, the capital of Punjab and the second largest city of Pakistan and noted that throughout the history there were strong relations, cultural similarities and common bonds between the peoples of Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Moreover, he mentioned that Multan city of Punjab province and Ganja city of Azerbaijan has already established sister city relations and Punjab province plays a special role in the relations between the two brotherly countries, Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, madam Aisha Pasha, Minister for Finance of Punjab, stressed that high-level relations exist between Pakistan and Azerbaijan and economic and trade cooperation, cultural ties, people-to-people relations should be improved which are essential in these same bilateral relations. She also noted that the tour of musical group from Azerbaijan to Lahore is of a great pleasure for them. On behalf of the Chief Minister and Government of Punjab, Madam Aisha Pasha congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
After the speeches, Mubariz Asgerov, honoured artist of Azerbaijan, Fakhri Nijat Kazim, soloist of Azerbaijan State Philarmony and Nigar Shabanova, soloist of Azerbaijan State Television performed Azerbaijani folk music and songs, as well as famous classical pieces of world music.
Musical and cultural evening was followed by dinner and attracted great interest of the participants.
